N scale trains are small. They are smaller than ho gauge. In a little room a hobbyist can create a very big highly operational layout. In a large room, a spacious layout could have award winning functionality. N scale trains can be obtained in sets, or in self built kit form. In kit form, it’s up to the builder to decide how much detail they want to put into their work.
N Explorer Train Set, SF
The biggest advantage of owning n scale trains is size. As a child I had the pleasure of obtaining two n scale trains for Christmas. They came with there own light weight country side one piece layout that fit on a card table. The engine was quite powerful and was die cast as were the cars. There was a small town, a pond, and a mountain side with a tunnel. The engines ran quietly, which my parents loved. The entire setup was easy to move from place to place and it stored comfortably under my bed.
N scale trains now come with the same new technology the larger model railroads come with, such as digital command control and digital sound. A large set can be constructed on an average size model railroad table. There, a hobbyist can keep multiple locomotives with lots of track, working switches, and various functionable accessories. There should still be plenty of room for a lucrative supply of operational rolling stock. N scale trains are perfect for hobbyists who live in little apartments and condo’s or town homes. I have seen n scale trains with setups prefabricated with tracks attached that come in four squares which fit together. They were easy to assemble and use, and easy to take apart for storage. For a person that travels to display their n scale trains at conventions and trade shows, being able to take their display of n scale trains apart to transport them is a huge advantage. Theirs a multitude of advantages when it comes to constructing, using and transporting n scale trains.
