Building a layout may take up a lot of space in a room but, if that room is specifically for model railroading, it shouldn&rsquot be much of a handicap. Sacrificing detail to save space may not be a good idea. Being able to improve detail without worrying about layout size and how much space is left in the room will probably give you a more rewarding experience when using lionel trains.
