There are those who like to dress the part by wearing the styles of the era their toy train and layout represents.  Some hobbyists carry special insurance coverage on their locomotive collections because some are priceless.                                                                                          Buying, selling and building these collectibles has become a family oriented hobby in which a lot of families use their vacation time to travel the United States and other countries looking for ideas for their toy train collection.  They do this by visiting various depots and maintenance yards to check out the new technology the real railroads use.  They also travel by rail to get new ideas about scenery for their toy train layouts.
